Sir Cliff Richard OBE is Patron of the Golden-Oldies Charity. He is a much loved singer, musician, performer, actor and philanthropist. He is the third-top-selling singles artist in the United Kingdom's history, with total sales of over 21 million units in the UK and has reportedly sold an estimated 250 million records worldwide. Over a career spanning more than 50 years, Cliff has become a fixture of the British entertainment world, amassing many gold and platinum discs and awards, including three Brit Awards and two Ivor Novello Awards. He has had more than 130 singles, albums and EPs make the UK Top 20, more than any other artist and holds the record (with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its first six decades (1950s–2000s). INTRODUCING OUR GOLDEN-OLDIES TRUSTEES
John Crick - Chair - originally from Pensford but has lived and worked in Paulton for the past 24 years. He is a semi retired Taxation Consultant and Accountant. Over the years he has been involved in organising many fundraising events for various charities.
Susanne Crick - is a retired residential letting and property management professional. She is a Goldies Volunteer with experience of caring for people with dementia. She loves music and has for many years enjoyed singing in Choirs conducted by Grenville.
Mike Richardson – Mike is a Chartered Accountant who has been in private practice for many years in Bath. Not a singer!!..... but delighted to be involved with Goldies and providing happiness to elderly and disadvantaged people. He is involved with a number of other charitable concerns both in a professional capacity and as a Trustee. He has lived in Bath for 45 years and has particular sporting interests in Rugby and Cricket in the city, not forgetting Bath's local football team. Mike is a keen supporter of Ipswich, his home town.
Dr Roger Bullock - he has been involved in dementia research for 27 years and remains active in that area after retiring from the NHS 3 years ago. While agreeing that there may be a specific pharmaceutical solution one day, he is excited by the recent research suggesting that lifestyle and other factors may modify the impact of the disease and is keen that this message is communicated to everybody. He is a well known national and international speaker, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications to date and is now working as a consultant to several companies in the dementia research world.
Christine Gregory - is a self-employed marketing consultant, with a background in financial services stretching back more than 30 years. A resident of Keynsham and a member of The Bath Chorus, Christine is very pleased to be joining the Goldies team as a Trustee.
Alwyn Humphreys MBE - combines two busy careers as a television presenter in Wales and choral/orchestral conductor. He is Conductor Emeritus of the Morriston Orpheus Choir and Principal Guest Conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Wales. He regularly conducts the 2015 Welsh Association of Male Choirs Festival and 1000 voices at the Royal Albert Hall. He was created an MBE in the Queen's 2001 New Year's Honours List and was awarded a Doctorate in Music by the University of Hull in 2006. In 2014 he was granted an Honorary Fellowship of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Alwyn is a member of the Goldies Cymru Management Board.
Dr Afroditi Stathi - is an Associate Professor in Active Ageing Promotion at the University of Birmingham. The goal of her research is to identify effective ways for promoting daily activity for older people in a range of health and community settings. She has guided the charity in the introduction of the Goldies Active Songs programme, which is an integral part of the charity’s focus on improving the health and well-being of older people and bringing a big smile to their lives.
John J Franklin - John has been in Manufacturing for fifty years specialising in Production Engineering, Quality Engineering and management, with both International and his own companies. Born in Maidenhead and educated at Maidenhead Grammar School, sport was his first love, which these days has to be satisfied by keenly supporting Bath Rugby. He moved to Wiltshire in 2000 and joined Grenville’s Devizes Good Afternoon Choir and Bath Male Choir. Singing became an important part of his life, as did supporting Golden-Oldies, fund raising and serving on the Wiltshire Board. This charity has become and is recognised as a very important part of many Goldies lives. He is delighted to join the Trustees and to become more closely involved.
Helen Wann - is an Executive Assistant for a company based in Bristol specialising in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. She loves sport and was a Senior Steward at Twickenham for over 23 years until recently, a Gamesmaker at the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics and 2014 saw Helen living and spending five weeks in Scotland volunteering at the Commonwealth Games, looking after visiting dignitaries from around the globe. For 10 years, she has been volunteer secretary to the Trustees, and we are delighted that she continues this role becoming a Trustee herself in July 2019.

Grenville is well-known and respected as one of leading choir conductors in the UK. He has appeared on Radio and TV across the world through his work with the Goldies Charity that he founded in 2007 and his reputation of getting people of all ages to sing! In his home city he is referred to as “Bath’s Mr Music” and in the past years has raised thousands of pounds for both national and local charities. In July 2012 he received an honorary doctorate from Bath Spa University in recognition of his reputation for bringing music to all age groups in communities across the West and Wales.
Grenville Jones was one of ‘THE 100’ judges on the Saturday evening BBC1 show called ALL TOGETHER NOW in 2018 and 2019. Introduced by comedian Rob Beckett and former spice girl Geri Horner, the six-part series was described as ‘A singing competition with a twist!’

He is proud of the fact that Goldies now has a team of over 50 talented session leaders and numbers of sessions approaching 160 across England and Wales. He leads 14 choir projects under his Grenville Music business including the famous City of Bath Male Choir, which he founded in February 2006 and who received national acclaim on the popular BBC1 Saturday evening Last Choir Standing series. He works with the BBC in Bristol on choir projects for Children in Need and over 800 people enjoy singing in his various choirs plus of course, over 2,500 ‘Goldies’. Grenville chairs the Goldies Cymru Management Board.

Cheryl Davies - Programme Leader for Goldies Cymru
Leading Goldies CYMRU in South Wales is Cheryl Davies. Cheryl originally comes from Aberdare, where she developed her skills on voice and piano and performed throughout South Wales. At the University of Surrey Roehampton Cheryl attained a BA (Hons) in Music and settled back in South West Wales, where she taught private piano and voice lessons for over 10 years. After working as a group coordinator for a dementia charity, Cheryl was the Project Manager for Goldies Cymru but is now our Programme Leader. As well as continuing to perform, Cheryl also directs a community choir and is studying a post-graduate degree in Music Therapy.
Emma Shearman – Operations and Fundraising Manager
Emma joined the Golden-Oldies team in January 2011. With a passion for helping people and working in the community, her previous roles include Support Worker at the City of Bath College supporting students to access education. When her Nan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Emma took on a caring role with her. She found that as her Nan lost more and more of her memory, the therapy of singing and dancing was what kept her going. After the loss of her Nan in 2010 Emma began looking for a role where she could carry on giving in this way and was delighted to find the Golden-Oldies Charity.

Julie Brady – Music Assistant
Music has always been Julie’s passion, she loves singing and playing her guitar. Julie runs much loved musical sing-along sessions with children at various local nurseries, alongside a choir for young people and adults with learning difficulties for the charity SWALLOW. Julie works on a part time basis with Goldies head office, supporting the smooth running of the charity and helping us put more smiles on more faces.

Abby Channing – Manager Goldies Charity Shop
Abby Rakes has always been very musical and attended piano, flute and soprano saxophone lessons throughout her schooling. Whilst at secondary school, Abby became a founder member of the Bath & North East Somerset county choir, Cantilena. She went on to study at Bournemouth University attaining a BSc (HONS) in Business Information Systems Management. After training in management for supermarket chain Tesco, she became Golden-Oldies Administrator in April 2008. In April 2017 her Goldies support role changed to become the Manager of the first Goldies Charity Shop in Keynsham.
Russell Abel - Finance Officer
Russell retired from HSBC Bank in 2008 after a 38 year career and, as he says, jumped at the opportunity of being involved with Golden-Oldies by becoming part-time Finance Officer. Besides helping keep his 'little grey cells' active he admits to finding the role somewhat invigorating by working alongside Grenville!
